Binder Park Zoo

Offers camps for ages 2 years and under (with parent) through youth entering 9th grade.  In this fun, dynamic, and engaging setting, kids will enjoy a day or week of guided walks, crafts, activities, games, and much more. Children who attend year after year will build on previous knowledge of animals and conservation.  Each day or week of Zoo Camp will focus on exciting themes for children to explore. For each age and grade, we offer several topics throughout the summer, so kids can spend a couple days to several weeks exploring animals and nature. 

Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo

Residential camp activities include hiking, swimming, biking, arts & crafts, fishing, field sports, and many other games and activities. Camp is free of charge.  Each session begins on a Tuesday morning and ends on a Friday at noon. Eight sessions are conducted throughout the summer. Sessions begin in June and end in early August. Teaching Peace, Social Justice, Environmental Stewardship and Cooperation Since 1938.  Each summer, campers and staff become part of a cooperative community, learning the value of interdependent living. Everyone shares in the cooperative tasks necessary to maintain the community. Nonviolent solutions to problems are sought as well as alternatives to competition in all aspects of the camp's daily life. Work projects, swimming, theater, nature exploration, folk dancing, cooperative games, and arts and crafts activities all contribute to the summer camp program.   They also have year-long programs.  Download camp brochure online.

4-H Camp Kidwell

4-H Camp Kidwell has a program where kids can enjoy all the activities that summer camp is known for. Swimming, archery, horseback riding, canoeing, nature, games, singing and more. Both day and residential campers can give all activities a try. Weekly themes add to the creativeness of traditional camp. Sessions begin and run until the first week of August.

Girl Scout Camp

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan offers both day-camp and residential camping programs throughout Michigan for girls age 6-17, for Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts.  The lessons girls learn while at camp will allow them to become courageous and confident women who will make the world a better place.  Girl Scout troop camping is also available year round to registered Girl Scout troops.  Visit their website to view the 2009 brochure, and for more information about camp programs near the Kalamazoo area.

Spring, Summer and Winter camps for ages 3 through teen!  Their mission is to provide safe experiences that allow all children to grow into active and respectful community members through exploration of the natural world.  These are mostly half- and full-day camps, and some of the camps for older kids include one or more overnights.

Since 1916, Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, a non-profit, community organization, has provided a cost-free summer camp experience to nearly 49,000 at-risk youth from Kalamazoo County. Throughout the years, Pretty Lake Vacation Camp has been able to carry on the mission of enriching the lives of thousands of youth by offering a safe, structured and encouraging environment in a natural setting.  Their focus is to assist in the development of their campers through the teaching of life skills and by helping campers cope with life's challenges.

Seminole Canyon Farm Horse Academy

Seminole Canyon Farm is a small, family-owned farm in Allegan, about 30 minutes NW of Kalamazoo.  They offer summer Horse Academy for ages 5 - 18 years, as well as after school horse academy classes and riding lessons.  Beginners are welcome.  They also offer birthday party packages.

True Vine Equestrian Center

Van Buren Youth Camp

Van Buren Youth Camp is a non-profit residential summer camp. Founded in 1950 on the shores of Great Bear Lake near Bloomingdale, they are halfway between Kalamazoo and Lake Michigan, in southwest Michigan. They provide unique summer experiences for children ages 6-18 at a reasonable cost.

Classes and activities are scheduled throughout the summer for children of all ages, including free events.  You can view their Summer Activity Guide and download a registration form on their website.  The Parks & Recreation Department oversees thirty-six parks and tot-lot playgrounds, including Bronson Park and the Kalamazoo Farmer's Market on Bank Street; manages the protection of physical and natural assets in the City; and provides recreation and leisure programs for youth, adults, senior citizens, and citizens with disabilities.
