Kalamazoo for Kids exists mainly because a couple of local Kalamazoo moms got together and decided we wanted someplace online to go where we could find anything and everything kid-related in the Kalamazoo area.  We found a few sites that offered information about various events or organizations, but we wanted to see everything in one place.

Back in November or 2004, Kristi Montgomery Beebe started a local parenting group called Natural Families of Kalamazoo, a discussion group where parents can support each other in their striving to provide healthy environments for their kids.  Wynn Harris Jones found NFK's online discussion group before moving here from Charlottesville, VA in the summer of 2008, and Kristi was one of the first connections she made through that group.

Knowing Kristi was involved with web design, Wynn told her about a wonderful website in the Charlottesville area called AlbemarleFamily (they offer a website as well as printed publications), with the thought that it would be great to have such a website available here.  So here we are!

Perhaps someday Kalamazoo for Kids will grow to the proportions of AlbemarleFamily, but right now our focus is on a comprehensive website that will keep parents and caregivers up-to-date on the local goings-on for kids.  We also want to help local organizations and businesses get their names and faces out to our families, as we are all about supporting local businesses.

We've set up an email list through which we send out weekly emails with a taste of the upcoming week's events.  Since our focus is local and we are parents ourselves, we respect your privacy and will never give out or sell our email address list to anyone anywhere.  To sign up, just click the "Weekly Email List" button at the top of any of our web pages.  You can opt out at any time, or forward them to friends who you think might be interested in knowing what we're doing.

That's about all there is to it for now.  If you have any questions for us, or have suggestions for or problems with the website, please let us know.

Peace and happy families,

Kristi Montgomery Beebe
Wynn Harris Jones
